Bridget Regan talks the conclusion of 'Legend of the Seeker' & her future plans !

Bridget Regan has been seen playing a variety of roles, but perhaps she's most known for bringing to life the character of Kahlan in the ABC Studio Sci-fi drama Legend of the Seeker. Regan has had to say farewell to the character this season as the show is set to air its series finale this weekend, a series she says she will always look back fondly on. She recently discussed with me what she'll cherish most from her role and time on Legend of the Seeker, what fans can expect from the finale, as well as the exciting projects up next for her!

What has most appealed to you about your role of Kahlan in Legend of the Seeker ?

Bridget : I like that she's a killer. (Laughs) I don't know why that sounds so funny to me but I like that she's different and that on one side of her she's really compassionate and a really good person and fighting for what's right and fair, yet the other side of her is this ruthless killer. I like that.

Has there been a storyline that's really stood to you with her? One you have enjoyed playing most with her ?

Bridget : Actually I really loved the finale. It was almost like playing a different character for me. Because she has so much rage which is something that she has kind of provoked by revenge. And she's in like a complete blind rage. I also really liked the episode 'Torn', that was this season. That one was really fun for me when Kahlan was split in two and she's kind of like the ying and yang of what makes her up from the split. I loved it.

What can fans look forward to in the finale ?

Bridget : Well there's certainly a lot of action and adventure. It's like they're racing against a ticking clock to finally get the stone of tears. And they've all been split up which is an interesting thing that happened. You know all the characters are on this show are quite compile when they're together, but when they're on their own, they're killing is sort of exposed. And I really loved working with Emily Foxler, who plays Siter Nicci, she's the one who is controlling me. It's kind of where the whole series accumulates. I think it's satisfying and shot really beautifully.

How would you say you have grown as an actress with this role? What have you learned most from it ?

Bridget : Oh it's taught me so much. I think because the stakes are so high and it's always life and death in the show. We're always just narrowly escaping death all the time, that it really did make me get in touch with those survival instincts and deep emotions which weren't necessarily on the surface for me all the time, but working on the show I had to be. It's been an interesting time and I'm always going to look back on it fondly. It was certainly heavy stuff.

You have a new film coming out, Best and the Brightest', with Neal Patrick Harris, what is your role like in the film ?

Bridget : Oh gosh it was the polar opposite of Kahlan that I play on Seeker. She's an out-of-work legitimately crazy actress living in New York, who's Neal Patrick Harris's girlfriend in the film. And he calls upon her to kind of help with his charades and she's a delusional and kind of takes it way too seriously. But it's a comedy. It was a great escape for me doing this film. Totally different from the show.

Do you have a dream role you would love to play in your career ?

Bridget : It's more like I'm excited to do things in different genres. I'm really eager to go back and do some theater. I would love to do some more comedy as well because I think that's really the hardest thing to do, it's what I grew up doing and I would love to go back and do that. I did a lot of theater growing up, musical theater.
But I wouldn't say that I have one particular role that I'm dying to role, I have not really thought of it yet.

What is the main difference for you between acting on stage, and acting in a film or television series ?

Bridget : I mean they both are rewarding in different ways. Being on film is forever. Television as well, just lives on and on and on which is really exciting. But then with theater, it's like an experience . You have to be there that one special night that was like that to see that one performance that was really remarkable. It's more intimate as well. So I like them both. I think going back and forth keeps you really on your toes. So I have to try to do that.

Will we be seeing you return to theater ?

Bridget : I'm producing a musical right now. It's called 'Camp Wanatachi' . We're doing a show in June in New York so I'm keeping my foot in that door. I don't know, we'll see where the wind takes me. I'm about to do a lot of traveling, so we'll see how that goes.

Who would you love to work with in your career someday ?

Bridget : Oh of course all the greats. Meryl Streep, one of the greatest of all time of course. Who isn't going to say Meryl Streep? (Laughs) You know all the greats that are up there. I have been really fortunate working with the actors that I have. You know you learn from everyone you work with, so it's been really cool.

What else are you passionate about? What do you think you would be doing if you were not acting ?

Bridget : Oh gosh sometimes I wonder because I've been doing this since I was so young. You know those rough times in New York when I had like four jobs and was trying to make ends meet before I got my break, I was like what else could I do? And sometimes I feel like I don't know any place else that I would go. I would probably go and just like join the Peace Corp, try to feed people and get clean water. Something that's practical and isn't so indulgent the way acting can sometimes be.

If you could go back in time and spend a day in the life of anyone from history, who would it be ?

Bridget : Wow! I just watched a documentary on The Rolling Stones, I think it would be cool to be Mick Jagger in the 60's for a day. (Laughs) It would be something totally different. That's the first thing that came to my head. I don't know I could be a million people, but probably something like that!
